Irem Bugdayci is an artist and designer, originally from Istanbul, Turkey and currently based in London, UK. Since creating her first robot Luna - a cute, perceptive and curious yet simple aluminum linkage system, she has explored the humanness of technology and the relationship between perception, motion, cognition and intelligence. Her works draw upon a diverse toolkit encompassing technical expertise in industrial/mechanical design, interactive experiences, computational design, VFX simulations, drawing, and both fiction and non-fiction writing. Spanning exhibitions at Barbican Centre, Ars Electronica, Ugly Duck, Istanbul Airport, Ataturk Cultural Center among other places, she also self publishes her work and research in various formats such as microsites to printed matter.
In 2018, Irem joined the Interactive Architecture Lab at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, as a researcher specializing in robotics and interactive design, earning distinction along with the prestigious Outstanding Thesis Award. Before relocating to London, Irem worked as an architectural designer in San Francisco, where she developed a growing appetite for working with new technology. With a foundation in liberal arts, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors (Cum Laude) in Art History and Architecture from Tufts University in Boston.

Currently she is a part of the art group Random International, as a designer.
